May 25 and 26, we will be hosting a boudoir marathon weekend in our brand new studio, starting a new session every 30 minutes!  For just $99, you can get your boudoir mini session and have ten fully edited images to order from!

For this Boudie Call weekend, we will be featuring a brand new set called the “Uptown Girl”.  It’s a very relaxed, Playboy-style set as seen in the photo above.  We recommend keeping outfits simple for this one!  Anything from a tank top and boy shorts to a bra and panty set (or nothing at all!) will really make this set look great!

We absolutely love our new studio!  It will be the biggest boudoir photography studio for several hundred miles around, and during your session, the whole place is yours!  Kansas has never seen anything like this before…

Starting May 1, we will be shooting from our BEAUTIFUL new 3800 sqft studio!  We’re doing some renovating this month, but will have some photos and videos coming your way soon…this is just your sneak peek!

The new studio is located at 1302 E. Waterman, which isn’t far from where we are now.  And no worries, EVERY boudoir shoot is still a completely closed set – you will have our whole studio to yourself during your session!

We hope to have an Open House this summer, but if you want a look at the place sooner, we are hosting our next Boudie Call day at the new studio on May 25 and 26!  Lots more details on that coming very soon!

We have spent the past four years building Wallflower Studios (and subsequently Boudoir by Wallflower, Glam by Wallflower, and Babies by Wallflower) into what it is today.  All of our marketing materials, advertisements, web design, and other graphic design is done by us!  We have created all of our sets, handcrafted the lighting design, and invented our own post-processing workflow to give every image we take the same Wallflower appeal.

During our humble beginnings in early 2008, we set out to be something that hadn’t already been seen a hundred times.  We love the work that other photographers across the country are doing, but we wanted to be different.  We wanted to be better.

When we launched into boudoir photography in October 2010, our only focus was creating an environment where women would feel comfortable, respected, and beautiful – and of course, making sure they left with images they loved!  Almost 200 shoots later (with another 200 on the books!), we have fully realized that goal and still strive for what we set out for in the beginning – to be different…to be better.

We decided at that point in 2010 that we would rather be masters of one area than “good photographers” in a general sense, and Boudoir by Wallflower was born.  We focused all of our attention, marketing, and training into that one niche, and we have brought boudoir to the masses of Wichita!  We love getting to see so many new faces every day and having the opportunity to photograph women in a way they never dreamed of before.  When we added glamour photography into the mix (“Glam by Wallflower” is coming soon!), it was just a natural extension of where boudoir had taken us.

Babies by Wallflower came about in early 2012.  We brought on a new photographer who is dedicated exclusively to baby photography (in Wallflower fashion), and she is creating some beautiful images!  More on that coming soon…

So, long story short – we’re not a chain!  It is flattering to hear that people think our marketing presence and our overall look is the product of a much larger retail organization, but the truth of it is that we’ve just worked really hard to make every little thing you see!

WomensFocus approached us last month wanting to do an article about boudoir photography, particularly regarding the taboo surrounding the subject in the Midwest.  We were excited for the opportunity to shed a little light on what boudoir is really about and why we think it is one of the best things a woman can do for herself.  While we couldn’t do any direct studio promotion in the article, we hope it gets women interested and comfortable with the idea of boudoir and really inspires them to do some research when looking for the right photographer for them!

We’re happy that boudoir is making its way into the public eye, and we are honored to be the face and voice of boudoir photography in Wichita!  Thanks to all of you for getting us there :)

So, here’s the deal.  We’re breaking it down into categories to keep it simple for everyone, and there are just a couple “rules” that we’ll go over in a minute.  There are basically three major categories of lingerie we’re currently accepting: panties, bras, and actual “lingerie” (corsets, baby dolls, teddies, etc., etc.).  We’ll be trading them as follows:

Panties = “Little Secrets” print

For a pair of panties, we’ll trade a print from our “Little Secrets” category

Bras = “Nightstands” print

For each bra, we’ll trade a print from our “Nightstands” category

Lingerie = “Show Me More” print

Lingerie can include (as mentioned before) corsets, baby dolls, teddies, chemises, and any other piece that can be worn on its own.  We’ll trade these for one of our “Show Me More” prints (we recommend the 8×12 – great size and it doesn’t crop off any of the image like the other sizes in the category do).

Conditions, Rules, and all that

We’ve said it before…we prefer to live in a policy-free environment, but that’s unfortunately not possible.  We do have a few stipulations on the trade program, and we’ll try to list them as concisely as possible here.

1. New or like-new pieces only; if it shows any wear, we will not accept it (these pieces are going in our collection for other women to use in their sessions).
2. Limit one piece from each category for each set you have shot on with us.  The idea is to trade for pieces you got/had specifically for your session.
3. We may not accept all pieces for trade, and that’s up to our discretion.  We already have a TON of lingerie, so duplicate pieces or pieces that we don’t feel will enhance our collection will not be accepted.  Nothing against your lingerie, we just know what we need :)
4. No substitutions.  We’re trying to keep this as simple as possible for everyone, so what’s listed above is what we’ll do.
5. For use on prints only.  We will not do trades for album or product credit, nor for session time.

The trade program is just something we’re trying out, and it could end at any time without notice.

We’re looking forward to growing our lingerie collection and your print collections!

We shot this video in the dead heat of late summer in Atlanta, Georgia. Only shooting after sunset presents a few challenges, and we decided from the outset that we would only use lights that we found as we scouted locations (just for an added little challenge!). Three nights of shooting from about 9 to midnight and we put this together!

Thanks to Mitch for letting us be a part of the video and to Brian and all the other awesome people that let us use their places to shoot (and to OFF for doing its best to keep the mosquitoes away).

Behind the Scenes

Shooting music videos isn’t always glamorous!  In each of these locations, we had very little time to set up, get shot ideas, and actually run a few takes…so our light setups weren’t always pretty.  This is by far my favorite (and Christina’s least favorite…she had to hold the lamp the whole time so the rig wouldn’t fall on Mitch!).

Nothing makes a light stand better than a table, some hymnals, a lamp, an extension cord, a mic stand, a hoodie, and more hymnals and bibles…except maybe a light stand.  But, we had to travel light to get to Atlanta, so we got to MacGuyver pretty much everything!  Had a blast, can’t wait to do it again!

Their wedding was on a nice warm day in Hesston, KS, and it was the first time we’d shot with them that it didn’t rain!  We had a little scare during the outdoor portraits, but made it through without a drop.  You may recognize them from their OurStory video on our blog/in our videos section (rained as we were taping Ben’s interview), or from their engagement session we posted on our Facebook (rained as we were shooting some of the last images that day)…we were just thankful it was an indoor ceremony!
