What makes Boudoir by Wallflower different from other photographers offering boudoir?
The short answer to that would be “have a look around” :) – BUT, there are also things you can’t see that really set us apart. We are a husband/wife photographic team, both professionally trained, and both a major part of every shoot we do! We are also one of the only studios in the state that specializes exclusively in boudoir photography. We are not wedding photographers that “also shoot boudoir” – we are boudoir/glamour photographers.
Since we officially launched Boudoir by Wallflower in April 2011, we have shot over 200 women (some of them several times!) – from stay-at-home moms to nurses, doctors, and even Playboy Playmates! We strongly believe that women were simply created to be beautiful, and our photography’s sole intent is to accentuate that. We are experts in lighting and posing and are relentless in making sure every woman has a wonderful experience during their session!
I would love to do this, but I am SO nervous…
There is nothing wrong with being nervous! Most of our clients are, and we understand that. We offer free pre-session consultations with EVERY session we shoot, so you can come in and meet us, see the space, and get a feel for how everything works. We don’t expect you to just show up and pose in your lingerie without knowing what you’re getting into! Our whole philosophy is built around creating a fun, relaxing, and comfortable atmosphere for you. Before you even book your shoot, please give us a call or book your pre-session consultation online – we’d love to meet you!
What are your hours?
We schedule consultations and viewing sessions Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Our sessions are scheduled Monday through Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. If you need a different time, please get in touch and we will do our best to find a time that works for you. We reserve Friday and Saturday nights for parties of 4 or more. All sessions and consultations are by appointment only.
How far in advance do I need to schedule my session before I need my album?
For our Playmate and PlaymatePlus session packages, we recommend scheduling your shoot at least 3 weeks prior to when you need your album (and a consultation before that if possible!). If you need your album faster than 3 weeks, we require a $200 rush fee in order to work your session and editing in. Rush sessions are subject to availability as our calendar does book up!
For our Deluxe and Rockstar sessions, we recommend at least 4 weeks, as production time on those albums is longer. Our rush fee for Deluxe/Rockstar session is $450, and we can discuss turnaround options during your consultation.
What are Boudie Call Days?
Boudie Call days are the best! Every couple of months, we pick a day to shoot on one of our sets – sometimes a brand new one, sometimes on-location somewhere…it’s always different! On our Boudie Call days, we book sessions in 30-minute increments for $99, and you can order any products a la carte at your proofing. Sign up for our newsletter or (better yet) become a fan on Facebook to make sure you know when the next one will be!
I did this with another photographer before and had a terrible experience – how can I be sure this won’t be the same?
It’s unfortunate that this is even in our FAQ, but we have heard SO many stories like this from our clients. Please, if you have any concerns, come in for a consultation. It doesn’t cost a thing, doesn’t obligate you to anything, and is the best way to get to know us and our studio.
Do you offer hair and make-up?
Hair and make-up is included in our Rockstar package. Apart from that, we are networked with the BEST make-up artists and stylists, and are happy to help you get set up with them. We want your preparation experience to be just as fun and amazing as your photo session, and have received nothing but glowing reviews from our clients that have taken our recommendations. Just ask when you book your session, and we’ll make sure you are well taken care of.
Do I need to bring my own lingerie?
We definitely recommend bringing some options, but you are also more than welcome to use any of ours! We have a growing collection of over 500 different pieces of lingerie, shoes, and leggings. Sizes vary from piece to piece, so we can’t guarantee that we’ll have your size and style, but we have outfitted our fair share of women! We are working on revising our online lingerie catalog to include our newest purchases, but a lot of it is online here.
If you need something new (and who doesn’t?), go talk to the ladies at Frederick’s of Hollywood in Towne East! We LOVE them, and you will, too. Tell them we sent you…we think they kinda like us, too.
Just how “naked” do I have to be?
Your level of “coveredness” is entirely up to you. When you come in for your consultation, we can show you samples of the varying degrees of nudity we have shot – everything from jeans and a tanktop to Playboy-style nudes – and you can decide what you want your shoot to portray.
What about posing? I don’t know how to “look sexy”.
That’s why we’re here! While there are photographers that think everything should be what you “naturally” do, and that posing is unimportant, we realize that most people don’t “naturally” sit around in boudoir-styled poses. We will take care of your posing and coach you through getting the best expressions for your photos!
Where is your studio located?
Our beautiful 4000 sqft studio is located at 1302 E. Waterman (northeast corner of Pattie and Waterman) near Old Town. It’s the only black, pink, and silver building we know of in Wichita, so it’s not hard to spot!
Will you take out my stretch marks, blemishes, etc.? Does it cost extra?
Before we proof your images to you, we go through each image and give it a magazine-style makeover – this includes skin smoothing, brightening your eyes, and just little details to make your pictures really pop. We will remove stretch marks or scars at your request, but we have met a lot of women who are very proud of their “mommy marks”, and prefer to keep them in their photos. There is no charge for any of our standard editing services. Just be up front with us with what you want so we know how to approach your editing.
**Summertime note: The exception to this is tan lines. We soften tan lines as a part of our normal editing process, but removing extreme tan lines does require an additional charge. Please keep your session (and health!) in mind as you are out and about this summer, and wear sunscreen. **
We believe that every woman is beautiful as she is, and therefore do not change your shape (bigger or smaller). If there is anything you are insecure about, just tell us up front! We have ultra-flattering lighting styles and poses for every body type, and your photos will show the real you at your best.
Will my photos end up on Facebook or on your website?
We never share images without prior client consent. At your proofing session, we have every client fill out a model release to let us know if/where they are comfortable sharing their photos. It is tailored specifically to you, and you are welcome to keep your images private or share them with the world (and anything in between)! We will never pressure you into sharing images you don’t want to. At last count, 80% of our clients chose to show their images somewhere (we understand that it’s just hard not to)!
Can I bring my husband/significant other or a friend to my session?
We are definitely okay with you bringing a friend along for moral support! We do not allow significant others to be present for the session itself, but they are more than welcome to come along to the consultation and proofing.
How old do you have to be to schedule a shoot?
Due to the nature of boudoir photography, we require that all clients be 18 years of age or older on the day of their photo shoot. Proof of age may be required.
